Maulid: Be peaceful – FCT Minister tells Muslims
October 19, 2021
FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello has urged Muslims in the territory to adhere to the cardinal principle of peace upon which the religion of Islam is built.
Bello, in his Maulid message to FCT residents, on Tuesday in Abuja, felicitated Muslims on the occasion of the commemoration of the birth of Holy Prophet Mohammad.
Bello also urged all Muslims and other residents of the FCT to join Nigerians to reflect deeply on the role they could play individually and collectively to build a nation of which they could be proud of.
“As the nation inches closer to increased political activities, we must recognise that the resort to violence or promotion of anarchy has never and will never resolve our social or political variances.
“Therefore, there is the need for us to imbibe the true meaning and virtues of sacrifice, patience, tolerance and fellowship in our relationships and dealings with fellow residents and all Nigerians,” he said.
Similarly, the minister urged residents to always embrace dialogue in settling differences and reject attempts by unpatriotic individuals or groups to incite unrest which was always counter-productive.
Bello, who reminded residents that the FCT was built on a foundation of unity and tolerance for all Nigerians, said that residents are obliged to imbibe and practice these principles.
The minister restated the commitment of the FCT administration to the provision of adequate security during the Maulid celebrations.
He appealed to residents to always cooperate with the security agencies at all time by providing useful information that would assist them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
On COVID-19 pandemic, Bello called on residents to be mindful of the disease which, he said, was still very much in the FCT.
He urged them to continue to observe all non-pharmaceutical interventions to prevent its spread
