FUDMA launches Diploma, Certificate Courses in Qu’ranic sciences

The Katsina State-based Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) has announced that it will soon begin offering Qur’anic courses as part of its Diploma, Certificate, and Basic Intensive Certificate programmes.

The information is contained in a statement that Mr. Habibu Umar-Amin, the institution’s public relations officer, released on last Wednesday in Katsina.

He claims that the university’s Centre for Qur’anic Studies and Research, or CQSR, has completed the necessary preparations for the start of the programmes.

Mr Habibu Umar-Amin noted that, “the Director of the centre, Dr Jabir Musa-Suleiman, said the programmes included Diploma in Qur`anic Science, Senior Certificate in Qur`anic Studies and Basic Intensive Certificate Course for Qur`anic Proficiency.

According to Musa-Suleiman, the diploma programme was two years long and required candidates to memorize the Holy Qur’an in addition to other criteria.

The criteria are four credits at the Ordinary level, made up of Arabic language and Islamic studies, he said.

“The period for the certificate course is two semesters comprising three different classes which includes basic level beginners and advanced level.

“The duration for the Basic Knowledge of Qur`anic Studies programme is three years, targetting those who memorised the Holy Qur`an. The certificate would enable candidates to further their studies in and outside the country.”

Adding that, such courses introduced by the university cannot be offered by many first generation universities in the country.

Assuring them of the best academic experience, he advised interested students to enroll and take advantage of the center.
