BREAKING: Kano Cleric, Kabara To Die By Hanging Over Alleged Blasphemy

Controversial Kano Islamic cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, has been convicted to die by hanging over blasphemy.

The verdict was passed on Thursday by an Upper Sharia Court in Kano.

The court had earlier convicted the cleric after finding him guilty of the charge of blasphemy levelled against him.

The judge, Malam Ibrahim Sarki Yola, in his sentencing, ordered the state government to seize the two mosques belonging to Abduljabbar. He also called on all media to desist from using any of Kabara’s teachings and pictures. 

The convict was thereafter given 30 days to appeal the judgment or forfeit his right to appeal.

Abduljabbar was accused several times of blasphemy towards Prophet Muhammad, f the companions of the prophet, and the Ahl al-Bayt (relatives of Muhammad).
